How do I organize the classroom, the materials and the KinderLit books?
• • Once you have cut the paper needed for the day’s page, place all the pieces in a tray basket in the center of your work tables. Or you can put the paper on a central supply table and the children take it from there (this method lends itself to more movement on the part of the children!) • • At cleanup time, the extra paper is placed in a “scrap box” which can be a cardboard box or plastic bin. The children use this scrap paper for the small details of the illustrations, such as eyes, windows, doors, spots, etc. • • When the children complete the page of the day, the books can be folded back to remain open for the glue or paint to dry and placed in a cubby. If you do not have cubbies or something similar, place the books along a wall out of the way to dry and then have a child collect them for you! Keep them in a plastic tub, ready to hand out for the next day’s page. • • At cleanup time, the children can become “human vacuum cleaners” and pick up all the scraps, including any you h
