How do I open the centrifuge lid in case of a power failure?
Eppendorf Microcentrifuge 5415 C Turn off the main power switch, unplug the centrifuge, and wait until the rotor stops spinning. Locate the pinhole on the left side of the housing, near the top right corner. Insert a paper clip and the lid will open. Eppendorf Microcentrifuge 5415 D Turn off the main power switch, unplug the centrifuge, and wait until the rotor stops spinning. Locate the white plastic knob near the front right corner of the bottom base plate. The knob is attached to the emergency lid release mechanism by a string. Pull on the plastic knob while pushing down on the centrifuge lid and the lid will open.
