How do I open swollen wooden gates in the garden ?
Since you stated that they are swollen then that could only mean they are made of wood and have become wet from rain or snow. If you want them opened right away you’ll have to force them open using a hammer or some other method to beat them open. That will do damage to the wood too. You could also do as one of the above answers and saw down between them both. That is the best possible answer and if you have an circular saw & know how to use it safely in that way that makes it all the more easier. If you’re willing to wait awhile I can recommend only one other method too. Drape some plastic over both sides (front & rear/inside & outside) of the gates where they are stuck together (center). Make sure the plastic drapes completely from top to bottom. Secure the plastic so it does not blow off or falls off at the top and bottom. If the sun is shining it will heat the wood and begin to dry it as it normally would anyway but the plastic will help trap more heat in and around the wet wood and
