How do I open Chessbase Databases?

0

Chessbase format databases are opened just like any other type of database. Chess Assistant can read both CBF (old format) and CBH (new format) files. However, it cannot open .cbv files, which are compressed, and possibly encrypted as well. To open CBF or CBH files: • Select “Base” from the main menu. • Select the menu option called “Open”. • In the resulting dialog box, select the appropriate type of chessbase files from the “Files of type” drop down list. • Navigate to the directory where the Chessbase format file is stored, and double click on it in the file window of the dialog. • You should see a new icon in the browser pane. Note that the icon will have a “RO” next to it. This means read-only. So you can’t modify Chessbase format databases, but you can copy games from them. What does EPD stand for? EPD stands for “Extended Position Description”. It is most commonly used to store test suites. These test quites are mostly used to benchmark, and to test chess engines. Chess Assistan
