How do I open a genealogy program called Family Tree Maker that is a .ftm file?

You will need to install Family Tree maker. There is NO generic program that will open it. If you were sent this file, and you have some other Genealogy program have the the people that sent you the ftm file a “GEDCOM” file of their data. Then you can import that data to your program. I run Family Tree Maker (2008 and 2009) and Legacy (6 and 7). If you do NOT have a Genealogy program go to http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadLegacy.asp down load and install the FREE version of Legacy 7 and you MAY be able to import the ftm file directly into Legacy.
