How do I oil a new baseball glove?
A new glove should not be oiled to break it in. Oil is meant to protect the glove from drying out over the winter. All you will do now is ruin baseballs with the oil that is left. To break a glove in, the best way is to just play catch to help develop the pocket. When not in use, place a baseball in the pocket and wrap a belt, rope, or a bungy cord around the glove to hold the ball in the spot where you want the pocket to form. After you are done for the year, then run a light coat of Neats Foot Oil onto the glove. Rub it into the glove with your fingers and palms; the heat (friction) from your hand will help rub the oil into the leather. Take care of the glove(s) and they’ll last a long time. Both of mine are over 30 years old. Good Luck this year!
