Obtaining Birth Certificate InformationGo to the Division of Vital Records, located at The Shops at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, Suite 275, Richmond, Virginia, 23230. This is the only way to receive same-day service for birth certificates in the state of Virginia. Complete the required application to receive your birth certificate. Be sure to bring photo identification and $12 (as of May 2010) to pay the service fee. The fee can be paid in cash, check or money order. Once you have obtained the birth certificate, check the document for any numbers, figures, dates or other information you may be looking for. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
