The purpose of supervision is to enhance practice skill, improve consumer outcomes and to clarify ethical issues that arise in daily practice. Most of the major recognized professions have standards of practice that include a requirement for continuing review of performance indicators. These indicators relate to such issues as maintaining care management competence, quality of consumer care, legal and ethical issues, care team collaboration and resource management issues.
