How Do I Meet Friends Offline?
I realize you’re not working, but there must be other interests you want to pursue in your new home. Your hobbies are a good start….if you’re an amateur photographer, a bad but enthusiastic madrigal singer, a bridge-playing junkie or a baking demon, look around for groups of people who share your interests. You likely won’t find them in the Yellow Pages (although it’s possible), but if for instance you just love to paint watercolors, go to a good arts supply store. Chances are the clerks in the store share your interest or they wouldn’t be working there. Or they may be able to steer you to a Saturday-morning club of like-minded painters. You may be able to find a community education center (adult education, community college, church-sponsored classes sometimes) which offers a course you’d like to take. Sign up and go.
