How do i measure my horse for a turnout sheet?

When measuring a horse for a blanket or sheet you get a flexible tape measure and put it around the widest part of their stomach. Then at the stores then they have the sizes in inches, but u add about 4 inches to the size u measured.

There is a trick to buying turnout sheets. It’s really confusing at first i mean its not like you can go up to your horse and say hey what size shirt do you wear =] So… Take a girth tape (local tackshop would have one) and measure the girth (how big the horse is around *from the top of the back all the way around the belly* ) and then a measuring stick (tack shop also) and measure how tall your horse is by how wide it is and that should help you a lot. after you measure your horse go to the tackshop and buy the blanket that has your horses size on it.
