How do I measure my daughter for a Skirt or Skort?
Skirts or skorts need three measurements for proper fit. Waist, hips and length. Although young girls are wearing their skirts and pants more at the hip these days, the waist measurement should still be relaxed just above or at the navel. If you are buying to fit on the hips, take the measurement where the skirt is to be worn and correlate that number into a waist size on our sizing charts. The half sizes in skirts seem to allow the most comfortable fit for those wanting to fit at the hips. Remember to allow for a shirt to be tucked in. The hip measurement (not to be confused with the measurement for wearing the waist at the hip) should be relaxed across the heaviest part of the abdomen. If the tape is held relaxed and not pulled tight, there will be an allowance for growth. The desired finished length is measured from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the finished hem.
