How do I make sense of a Julian Code Date that appears on some food packages?
A Julian Code Date lists the date and location the product was manufactured. An example of a Julian Code would be: 9003A22 In this example, the “9” designates the year (1999). The next three digits “003”, designate day number 3 of the 365 days in a year. So we know this product was manufactured on January 3, 1999. The next letter “A” identifies the production plant and the “22” represents the shift and the line number.
