How do i make my ceiling fan stop rattling and making noise?
You need to know what, exactly, is rattling. Quite possibly it is the pull chain bouncing against the body of the fan. The fix is to wrap a bit of electrical tape where it makes contact to make it shut up. Otherwise, if the noise if just sort of “general,” you can balance the fan blades. The imbalance may be due to dust and dirt on the upper face of the blades -where you can’t see it from the floor. Have a look there -and elsewhere on the motor body and get everything cleaned up. While you’re there, check to see that all the screws and bolts that hold the blades to the atachment arms are secure, and tioghten ’em up. If it STILL rattles, you can use coins to re-balance it. Do this experimentally by using a piece of duct tape to secure, say a quarter, to the upper face of any blade near the tip of the blade. Better? Or Worse? Keep fiddling around, trying different blades. Once you’ve found the culprit, moving the coin toward the motor body will have descrease the effective weight of the
