If you’re not aiming to make vast quantities of chocolate batteries and cockroaches, and can content yourself with a mold that only makes one at a time, then a silicone mold would be the way to go. It’s not easy to make one of these, nor cheap, but it’s certainly do-able for anyone with a decent allotment of craft-savvy. Silicone will make a mold that’s perfectly faithful to the model but, depending on the shape of the model, you may have to create a mold that separates into two or more pieces in order to capture all of the features of the model. Your battery, for instance, would certainly be at least a 2 part mold in order to capture the terminals on top of the battery. The cockroach poses a few challenges; you could get by with a 1 piece mold if you’re only trying for a top view of the little fellow and don’t care about the bottom. But the legs and antennae (which, IMHO, are de rigeur for a convincing roach), while not impossible to capture in the mold, would be impossible to actuall
