In Media Player, go to menu View | Options | Formats and make sure xyz is checked. If this doesn’t do the trick for you, click START button | Settings | Control Panel | Folder options | Filetypes . Scroll down to the xyz filetype, highlight it and then click Edit or Advanced (depending on Windows flavour). Click Open to highlight that and then click Edit. Re-associate this action (open) with mplayer2.exe – use Browse to find it and get the path right.
