How do I make Harpoon II and Harpoon 3 run faster?
Game speed was a problem in the old MS/DOS Harpoon II, and larger scenarios would creep even on Giga processors. Not so with Harpoon 3, which takes advantage of new memory managers and state-of-the-art software compilers to give a tenfold increase in speed. The following pretty much applies to Harpoon II. There are many different variables that will cause the simulator to slow down, the primary one being the number of active units in play, but there are other variables you can adjust: • Set your screen resolution to 640 x 480 (however, 1024 x 768 is recommended). • Run in a window .OPT-Files • Close unnecessary windows. If you have windows open, and you are not using them, close them. If you want to refer to them later (such as tracking windows) iconize them. • Turn off some to the window preferences on the main window. When you build a new window from an existing window, the new window retains the Preferences settings for the old window. If you reduce the amount of information being d
