Decorate your child’s room with a cowboy, ranch or farm theme. Build a split-rail fence along one wall to enhance the western theme. This split-rail fence will be made of baseboards nailed to the wall. Locate and mark all of the studs along the wall. Put a post at each stud. Each post will be about 2 feet high. Measure the wall and determine the length of baseboards you will need to put the posts up and the railing between the posts. Purchase simple 1- to 2-inch baseboards for the split rail fence. Cut the fence posts from the baseboard to the desired height. Sand the ends. Paint or stain the fence posts. Nail the baseboard fence posts in the spots where the studs were located. Measure the distance between the fence posts for your rails. Cut the rails, sand and paint the rails.
