The important point for frogs to live in and around ponds is for there to be easy access from the water. Have gently sloping sides, into shallower water, so that they can get out as well as in. Provide some shelter too, and have some oxygenating pond weeds in the water, which will allow the frogs to breath and remain healthy. Have some rocks that they can shelter from the sun, or get onto when they want to be out of the water. It’s good to have a good covering of at least half the water surface, using pond plants, or some decorative items, as this will prevent sunlight stimulating Algae growth, which will cause greener water. There are natural ways to control Algae that don’t harm wildlife too. The bigger the pond, the more likely your need will be for a small pump – they’re not necessary, but help to clean the water, as well as increase oxygen levels.
