A basic battery that will light an incandescent light bulb is very easy. All you need is any citrus fruit and 2 pieces of metal. They have to be different types of metal. Copper and zinc nails or screws work very well. You might even get it to work with a penny and a nickel. Cut 2 slits into the fruit deep enough to contact the juice. Insert 1 piece of metal into each slit. It’s a battery! Just connect up your bulb, either with a bit of wire, or by just touching the leads to the metal bits. Some fruits work better than others. I prefer lemons, for the high acidity and relative cheapness. If you don’t have fruit handy, you can use a small bowl with any weak acid in it, such as vinegar or lemon juice. Just be sure that you use a non-conductive bowl, and that the 2 pieces of metal do not touch each other. Experiment, try stuff out, have fun, be safe. For further resources, see: http://www.science

I’ve seen weak batteries made with lemons. You have to use copper and zinc electrodes, two different electrodes in each citrus fruit. I suppose you could link several lemons together in series to build up the volts. Get a weak 3 volt light bulb or less. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemon_batte… HERE is a film on Youtube: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/845670/lem… The galvanized nail is coated with zinc. Another source of zinc is to cut open a carbon-zinc flashlight battery, using the outer layer of zinc. Protect your fingers against battery juices!!!
