How do I make a forum avatar or signature from a picture of my creature, farm, or real-life pet?

You can take a picture of a creature or farm by using the “print screen” button on your keyboard. For PC users this will copy the screen to the clipboard; in order to paste the screen you will need photo-editing software such as Photoshop, GIMP or Paint Shop Pro. Mac users can press Shift + Command + 4 and select a portion of the screen to capture. It will save your selection to your desktop. Please note the signature and avatar size restrictions as you edit your screenshot. When you are done, you can upload the avatar to the forum via the User Control Panel. Signatures need to be hosted elsewhere, such as www.photobucket.com, and then linked to. If you wish to have a picture of your real-life pet, you will need to use a web cam or a digital camera to take a picture and transfer it to your computer. Once it is on your computer you can use your favorite image-editing software to crop and re-size the image to the appropriate dimensions for a signature/avatar on the forum.
