How do I look after orchids?
orchids are one of the least understood flowering plants there are. care is extremely simple: 1) indirect strong light 2) water once a week and allow the potting mix thoroughly drain ( they do not like “wet feet” so NEVER water from a pot saucer ) 3) lightly feed once a month. ( I buy the fertilizer sticks and lay ONE on top of the potting mix, then when I water I make sure that is the side I water from,,, this way there is no need to remember when you fed it last and the food released is a very small amount ) 4) do NOT place the plant near a heat register, fireplace, stove, or other heat source as it will dry out the exposed roots along with any blooms.
