How do I light the pilot on a Holly Stubby floor furnace?
Take the grates off and look down at the two “knobs.” The one on the left says “burner” and the one on the right says “pilot.” If you gaze just above the knobs, you’ll see on the flat center section of the furnace, a round cap. Take that cap off and use a flashlight to look down into the hole. Look down and back and you should see the pilot assembly. This is what you’ll be aiming for with your fireplace match and straightened coat hanger (if you use a regular match, it will go out before it has a chance to light it). Turn the “pilot” knob into the “on” position. Light your match and lower it down to the pilot light assembly. It’s hard to see, so if you don’t get it the first time, turn off the pilot knob to let the gas clear and repeat until you get it lit. Once it’s lit, you can turn the “burner” knob and you should be good to go. I turned up the thermostat to around 80 and opened the nearest doors and windows so it could burn off the dust and whatnot that settled in the furnace durin
It depends on the furnace. There are all many kinds. some with electric lighters and some you need a match for. I can tell you how mine lights. First off, you need to make sure your heat is turned off. Next, you have to find where the pilot is. Usually it is found at or near the bottom of the furnace or heater. Once you get access to it, you need to locate the pilot button. You hold this down while lighting a match and holding it to the pilot. Once the pilot is lit, you need to hold that pilot switch for about a minute… after a minute, release the pilot button very slowly. If the flame stays lit, your pilot is lit and you can now safely turn on your heater.- At Parker Service Co. 1502 S. Dawson Street
