How do I know where to place my child in ShillerMath?
1) We do not want to make assumptions about what a student knows or doesn’t know, so we recommend that the parent start each student, regardless of age (up to 12 years old), at the first test in Book 1, with the introduction: “This should be really easy for you and will take you just one minute to do. Let’s have some fun and see if you can get them all right.” The tests are inline activities in the books. For example, Test #1 begins on p.28 (Activity 1-56) in Book 1. If you do not yet have Kit I, or if you think your child will place in Kit II, you may download the Kit I Diagnostic Test Kit from the (order page). 2) The answer key is the activity following the test. If the student answers all the questions correctly, praise and move on to the next test. If a question is answered incorrectly, the answer key is prescriptive: It tells you exactly which activities will fill the hole identified by this question being missed.
