How do I know what size breast implant will fit my body?
There are 2 important considerations- volume of the implant, and profile of the implant. As a plastic surgeon, I don’t really love talking about cup size, because it’s a little imprecise. I like a volume measurement, because it’s very precise. Your consultation should include the ability to “try on” different sizers or different volumes of sample breast implants in the office, with an unpadded bra, with or without clothing on top of that. Once you figure out the volume you like, I usually recommend going with the volume you have chosen or slightly bigger, about 25-30 cc bigger. The first reason for going possibly going slightly bigger is that generally the breast implant is placed under the muscle, and the muscle compresses it slightly, causing a slightly smaller size than the “trial” in the office with sizer.
