How do I know that Island Coconuts VCNO is fair trade?
Our oil is produced using fair trade principles that help small farmers earn a living wage under safe working conditions. The coconut farmers that produce Island Coconuts virgin coconut oil are paid 60% of the sale price of the oil which is 20% more than other coconut farmers in the Philippines make. Our oil is registered with the Philippine Department of Trade, which is committed to fair trade practices for coconut farmers and all farmers are registered with the Coconut Farmers Federation (CocoFed). They are also offered free seminars, training, supervision, and equipment.
