How Do I Know If My Rabbit Is Pregnant

0

Oh you will know, ha ha. If you have kept your female rabbit with a male rabbit I guarantee you that the girl is pregnant. In the space of a couple of months my rabbit had three litters retrospect of me getting the male neutered as it takes almost two weeks for the sperm to totally disappear. When my rabbit became pregnant each time she was on edge, very moody. She did not want me lifting her up and she was pulling hair out of herself to build a nest. Before she was a beautiful glossy black colour but the stress of it all gave her a ginger tinge. She was also a little more aggressive, stamping her foot at me, etc. Most books advice that you separate the male as he will kill the babies but I had no where to put him as the pet shop told me he was a female and I only had one cage. On all three occasions he was a lot more protective over the babies than she was, in fact she constantly tried to run away from them even when they wanted to be fed while he stayed close to them at all times. One of my house rabbit gave birth 10 days ago before she was due she, built a nest and plucked her fur early, she had them on tues 4th at 7.10 am, but the fur was plucked very early, my advice is provide more hay and food, and just watch her, I actually watched the birth, but my advice is if she is about to give birth keep well out the way, my doe follows me everywhere and just wanted petted all the time before she gave birth, before I checked them in there nest i rubbed my hands all over her to pick up her scent, just check them dont handle them for the 1st week, I have the exception to the rule with my bun but I have heard some can be a bit moody, But go to the vet and they should able to tell you for sure. and keep the male away as he can fertilize her again just after birth, this would be a good time to have the buck spayed.
