How do I know if I have high homocysteine levels?
High homocysteine levels do not cause immediate symptoms for most people. The best way to check your homocysteine level is through a routine blood test. Regular homocysteine testing may be useful if you or a family member have heart or blood vessel disease. According to the American Heart Association levels between 16-30 µmol/liter are considered moderately high. Anything over 31µmol/liter is considered very high.
