How do I know if depression is because of the birth control pill, life circumstances or hormones?
Birth control is bad because it controls the amount of female hormones you can produce. If you are taking them for acne and nothing else then get off of them and see a dermatologist to find a much better solution for your acne that has no side effects. If you are on them to regulate your cycle then see a gyn to get something that has no side effects because there are many out there without the severe effects. If you are on them for birth control then also switch for the same reason to something less severe. However, though they can aggrivate depression, they cannot cause it. If you are depressed, its solely due to a chemical imbalance in you or a generic pass on from your side of the family, whether its mom or dad side. Look into the history of any of your relatives on both sides and see if any of them were depressed people. If its like bipolar or a similar problem then it can only be controlled by taking special drugs to replace what your brain is not producing properly so you need to
I think that you need to see a counselor or therapist – regardless of WHAT is causing your depression – you need to discuss it and let a professional help you sort through things — If he/she thinks it is the pills – they can get a dermatologist to see if there is an alternative to what you are doing – if the pills do not have this side effect – they will know – All the things you mentioned could be causes for your depression – BUT, it could be something else – like even a chemical imbalance in the body or brain (which could be part of your acne problem) – Before you continue loosing days/months to being unhappy – get medical and psychological attention – you don’t have to feel this way — May God Bless you —
