How do I kill unwanted grass?

0

Mow the grass so only about 2 or 3 inches remain above the ground. Cover the grass with one or two layers of cardboard. Walk on the cardboard to make it lie flat over the grass. Wet the cardboard with a hose or a few buckets of water. Put at least 6 inches of soil and compost or mulch on top of the cardboard. If you want to plant other things where the grass was, use between 6 inches to one foot of soil. The grass will die underneath the cardboard and soil, providing fertilizer for your new plants. If you do not wish to grow anything in the spot, use sand for a desert landscape or wood chip and tree bark mulch on top of soil if that is what you want for your landscape.Source:”Food Not Lawns”; Heather C.
