How do I keep myself from accidentally mailing personal information through Sneakemail?
During development of Sneakemail this was a “oh sh*t” moment for us. During testing my email was nicely anonymized except my real address was right there in my sig. We couldn’t expect users to be careful about editing their sigs before replying to every Sneakemail they got. This left us with the dreadful and bruteforce solution of having the servers scan the body of every single outgoing message. Not a pretty picture for CPU resources. Sneakemail automatically replaces every real address in your account, your username, and a few other things with “…”. Just to be safe we even let people add their own words to censor. They can be added in Account Menu, Censor list. We only target text, html and headers for censoring, so any attachment in doc, csv, etc formats are ignored.
