How do I join the Alaska State Troopers?
Minimum QualificationsConsider whether you meet the minimum qualifications to be an Alaska State Trooper. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, high school graduates, 21 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license. Several background qualifications are also required regarding past criminal history and traffic violations. Alaska state residency is not a requirement and prior experience as a police officer is also not required.Complete an ApplicationSubmit a completed application to the Alaska Department of Public Safety. Applications are reviewed and interviews are then scheduled with a background investigator if the applicant meets the minimum requirements and is selected to move forward in the process.
