How do I interpret MPSS signatures found in unusual locations in the genome?
These unusual locations may include: 1) At the 5′ end of the gene, either upstream or very close to the ATG. 2) Signatures found in the introns. 3) Anti-sense signatures, or those found on the “wrong” strand. 4) Signatures in a genomic region that don’t match an annotated gene. 5) In multiple locations in the genome.
