There are several ways to update your Windows 2000/XP computer at home. Use the Windows update icon from your start menu. Click the ‘Start’ button in the lower left corner of the screen Find the ‘Windows Update’ icon in the menu listing A browser window will launch and may ask if you want to install a patch management application You will need to click ‘Yes’ on this. (you will only need to do this once). The screen will be divided into two sections. (left section with several menu options and a main section) (click image for full size picture) In the main section click on ‘Scan for updates’ After it scans the menu options on the left will show if you have any ‘Critical Updates and Service Packs’ that need to be installed. If there are Critical Updates and Service Packs that have not been installed, Click on that Selection in the menu and it will show these items in the main window.
