How do I install the HotU version?
Installation is a breeze. Unzip the HotU version and click on the exe file. A folder called FS2 will be created. You might as well rename this to FreeSpace2 since that’s the name retail uses and it’s the name used everywhere else in this FAQ. Move the folder where ever you like. You now have a copy of the v1.0 of the game. However if you try to upgrade this you will find that it doesn’t work because you have a cracked version of the exe file. The best thing to do is to download yourself a copy of this archive. Unpack it with WinRAR and replace all the files in your FreeSpace2 folder with these versions. This will bring you up to a fully functioning copy of FreeSpace 2 v1.20.
