How do I install SecuRemote on a Dell laptop computer with a 3Com NIC?
When installing SecuRemote on Dell laptops with 3Com NICs, you may encounter the following: • TCP/IP stack did not respond • DHCP request failed • Could not ping any computer within the same subnet The source of these problems points to a 3Com driver problem on Dell laptops. Usually new computers do not come with the latest drivers and/or latest software patches. A reasonable solution is to install the latest drivers and patches on your computer. To fix the problem, do the following: • Remove the VPN SecuRemote client and reboot. • Remove the Dell supplied NIC driver and reboot. • Install the latest 3Com driver and reboot. • Install the VPN SecuRemote client and reboot.
