How do I install crown molding on walls that are 12X12 ceramic tiles to a wallboard ceiling?
To install the molding you will have to have a backer board of course. The size of the board depends on the size of the molding but with small molding start with a 2×4 and ripcut a 45 to catch the molding.The backer board will have to be attached to something. I would go with a combination of construction adhesive and finishing nails to hold the backer in position until the glue dries. Gluing up the board and using the finishing nails to attach to the drywall ceiling. Sounds bad to nail to drywall but with the small finishing nails and a finishing nailer it will hold long enough for the adhesive to gain some real strength. Be a little inventive here. Fastening to the ceiling joists. Where ever you can get something solid. Hope this helps.
