How do I install a garage door with automatic opener?

0

I’ve installed dozens of garage doors with and without automatic openers. 12 inches of clearance above garage door header is plenty. I’ve installed with 7 inches of clearance. Actually, as long as there is room above the door side rails for the center door opener rail, you can do it. Too much info needed to answer all here, but ensure the header you install in the framing for the garage is substantial. For a 16 foot wide opening, a double 2 x 10 with 1/2 inch plywood between. will be fine. Glue and screw for added strength. Frame opening 1 inch smaller in height and width than size of garage door. Follow enclosed directions and you should be fine. Good Luck.
