How do i install a fan kit in a suspended ceiling?
To my knowledge, there is not a product made that is rated for mounting your fan box to the suspended ceiling. So you will need to build something to support your fan rated box. The steps below outline how I have installed ceiling fans in suspended ceilings in the past. I hope this helps. Good luck. Always remember safety first when working with electricity. Always ensure the power is off before touching the wire. Step 1: Turn off the breaker for the circuit you are working on. Step 2: Use some type of volt meter to verify that the circuit is off. Step 3: Remove the ceiling tiles on both sides of the one you are going to install your ceiling fan in. Step 4: Cut a hole in your ceiling tile the exact size of your fan rated box. I would recommend a shallow box. The box also needs to be rated to support your fan. You can NOT install any box for this application; it must be fan rated.
