Communication is a tool that all of us use everyday. Good communication skills are priceless! One way to improve our interactions with others is to be sure that when we are sharing our thoughts, feelings, or perspectives is to be sure that we do not come across as being accusatory or blaming. No one likes to be blamed! And when we feel like we are being blamed we become very resistant and on the defensive. Which does help open up communication between anyone! The first step is to begin by stating our own feelings. Begin, simply, with “I feel. . .” and then insert your emotion. (frustrated, angry, sad, confused, nervous, anxious, happy, content, pleased, proud, etc.) Next, it is important to include why you feel a particular way. “I feel happy when I see you working hard at school.” Or, “I feel frustrated when I continuall
