How Do I Implement a Scoring Rubric for a Reading Performance Assessment?
Performance-based assessments have become a popular way for teachers to authentically determine their students’ mastery of educational objectives. In order for performance-based assessments to be implemented correctly, teachers need to take time to develop a comprehensive method of evaluation. An effective way to both easily and successfully accomplish this task is to develop a rubric. A rubric is a set of scoring criteria that describes the indicators of different levels of success of the assessment. A rubric can be developed for any task in any subject at any grade level. Decide on 4 to 5 categories that you want to evaluate based on the assessment.
