How do I identify common house ants?

0

The most common type of ants found in homes are carpenter ants. These ants have an evenly rounded thorax, are black or red and are various sizes up to 1/2-inch long. Other common household ants are cornfield ants, pharaoh ants, thief ants and pavement ants. Cornfield ants are brown and are about 1/10-inch long. Pharaoh ants are light yellow to red, with a darker thorax and segmented antennae. Thief ants are much smaller ants and are yellow to light brown. Pavements ants are reddish brown or black and have vertical lines on their head. There are other types of ants, but they are not commonly found in homes.
