How do I help my other children deal with having a sister or brother with Prader Willi syndrome?
Research on families with children with various disabilities often finds that children are strengthened, not harmed, by having a sibling with special needs. Having a sibling with disabilities makes life more complicated. Sibling workshops have been designed to help with those problems (for example see Sibshops: workshops for siblings of children with special needs and The Sibling Support Project (SibNet)) and, for some problems, individual or family counseling may be necessary. For an interesting viewpoint, see the book The Normal One, written by a typically-developing sibling of a child with disabilities.
