How Do I Hand Sew a String of Beads?
Hand sewing beads on garments or other fabric projects gives a unique appearance to the project. When you have completed sewing on the beads, it will look as though it were a long string. However, the beads are actually attached a few at a time. With a few tips, you will realize just how easy it is. Decide on the beading design you will use. Traditional embroidery patterns and designs are perfect for this purpose. Draw the design on the back of the fabric with a quilter’s pencil or transfer it with seamstress transfer paper (much like graphite or carbon paper, except it’s a light color). Use it by placing the transfer paper face down on the fabric and the design on top. Use a sharp pencil over the design. Pull a knotted needle and thread up through the beginning location of your pattern in the fabric, from the underside. Pick up 3 to 5 beads (3 if they are larger and 5 if they are small) with your needle. Push the needle back into the fabric at the end of the beads, so that the 3 to 5
