How do I hand-paint ceramic tile?

Prepare the SuppliesStart with enough white ceramic tiles for your painting project, plus three extra–two for mixing colors and one in case of an accident. Purchase two medium oil painting brushes and a small palette knife. Prepare the paints by mixing powdered china paints with oil and turpentine to get the consistency and colors you need.Paint the TileDip the brush in turpentine and pull off a small amount of paint from the pile for each stroke. Paint fine features first and add background later. Don’t use more paint than you need, and don’t let the color you are using spread into the colors that are already there. Remove paint with a clean brush from a painted area if you want the color of that area to be white.Fire the Painted TileFire the tile in a kiln to fix the paint. If you don’t own a kiln, take the tile to a pottery shop for firing. If you are painting a complex pattern on the tile, paint in stages and fire the tile between each stage.
