How do i grow an apricot tree from a pit?

I’ve found the easiest way to grow apricot trees, or anything else with a pit is to insert 3 toothpicks, or galvanized nails (won’t rust) into the pit. Then set it in a glass container (a mason jar works great) with the nails or toothpicks resting on the edge of the container to keep it from dropping in. Fill the container with water up to the middle of the pit. In a few weeks you’ll have roots. Then you can plant it in dirt.
