That’s wonderful that you want to join a time-honored industry. The government offers grants and other financial assistance to get your started, but first you will need to get the following taken care of:
- You need to have some knowledge and training (colleges offer courses in this area), unless you have on-the-job experience through a family or other work, which can help.
- A plot of land is good, but you also need to make sure that the area is zoned for the type of farming you would like to do.
- Be sure to check with your bank about any loans that they can assist with. Usually if you have some form of government funding, it will be easier to get the banks on board.
