How do i go about getting a birth certificate and social security card for my baby?

The hospital is supposed to do it for you, but the same thing happened to me…you have to get the birth certificate before you can get the social security card if your baby is over a certain age (I believe it is 3 months)…. If younger, then the crib card & whatever else you have from the hospital (even a medical card) may work. The birth certificate is at the county that he was born at….either county clerk or registrar/recorder. They should have a website or phone number….I know that in Los Angeles, you have to get something notarized if getting it through mail because of too much fraud. Jessie….that varies from state to state.
