If you can find a way to do this cheaply on a BMW, then more power to you. Increasing the amount of air going in: Generally, the blockage point for this is your air intake box. If you can switch this out to a cold air intake, it would increase the amount of air coming in since 1) the current air box opening is smaller than a 3″ diameter CAI, 2) the upgraded air filter allows for more air to come in, and 3) delivering cold air into your engine vs warmer air has a higher concentration of oxygen molecules (air is more dense) which provides a bigger combustion in your engine, thus more power.
