The advanced professions open up after you’ve reached Master in one or more basic skill lines. For instance, if you become an Organic Resource Harvesting Specialist (Scout skill tree), that opens up the Farmer advanced profession. If you become an Inorganic Resource Harvesting Specialist (Artisan skill tree), that opens up the Miner advanced profession. As soon as I can, I’ll post here a list of what basic profession opens up what advanced profession.
