How do I get Starlink to write software that I need?
Starlink offers a Custom programming service called Quick aimed at solving individual users’ data reduction and analysis problems. The service is designed to provide quick solutions to particular astronomical data reduction/analysis problems through, for example, the supply of a recipe or script using existing software, or the addition of minor functionality to an existing application. It won’t stretch to large jobs such as the porting of software or the provision of new applications. We’re happy to look at problems which a programmer can solve in about a day (or less), and in areas of Starlink expertise so that this knowledge can be transferred into the community. To use the service, please e-mail your request for help to quick@star.rl.ac.uk. The aim is to complete requests within 1 to 3 days, depending on the availability of staff.
